Quantity takeoff gives an estimate of the quantities from the DP model. For the AEC industry, this is a very helpful tool for estimation and costing. This can be used for various purposes - initial pricing, bidding, cost impact of changes made to the model etc.

Steel Quantity takeoff
Procedure-
For a part file with steel structural members, click on the datasheet button. (1)
Use the query or select the beams from the specification-tree for which the quantity takeoff is needed. (2)
If there is a existing template that has other formulated excel sheet, that can be chosen (3)
The section name can be obtained by clicking the Parameters-Properties"Report..." button. (4)
+ Select "Member" (4.1) + Select the required component-properties (4.2) + Click "OK" to continue
The quantities can be obtained by clikcing the Attributes "Report..." button. (5)
+ Select IfcQuantities under "Attributes" (5.1) + Select "Structural Member Quantities" from Dictionary-Package (5.2) + Select the required Package-attributes (5.3) + Click "OK" to continue
Click "Apply" to create the datasheet report. Note that the datasheet will the specified template file (if any).
Click "OK" to create the datasheet and to save it. This will create the datasheet and save it at location specified under Tools-Options.
This datasheet will also be inserted into the specification tree.
Click "Cancel" to cancel the action.
